While John Honeycutt has been an advocate of education since his youth, this page summarizes evidence of this advocacy.
This initiative intends to inspire young readers and young scientists. Captivating and fun stories are published under the collection of Hare-Brain Science Tales. Each story, written at 3-4 grade level introduces a physical science concept through a silly story. The last few pages provide the “real science” explanations. (visit the site). Published in 2008, the book and its original companion web site have raised tens of thousands of dollars for youth scholarships. (See the Book on Amazon).
Your child is either recently an adult or soon to be a legal adult. You have done well raising him/her. You provided food, clothes and shelter. You furnished safety, guidance, support, encouragement, discipline, friendship, healthcare, and other provisions. Now you are about to invest possibly thousands of dollars in more education. A College Contract between you and your child clarifies your mutual understanding about important topics including money, where to live, insurance, and moving back home. It creates an on-going, authentic dialogue. It maximizes your investment and accelerates your child’s successful independence.
John and Jennifer Honeycutt have been adjunctly involved with and active advocates of Cornerstone Crossroads Academy in South Dallas.
In 2015, the Honeycutts raised over $15,000 in donations to rent a comfortable bus and transport the entire school to near Estes Park Colorado. Most of the students had not previously left the Dallas metro area. The initiative was called Aspirations of Courage Tour, with the motto of Aim High, Breathe In, Climb up.
While preparing to run for office, Honeycutt substitute taught in the Greeley-Evans District 6 schools. He then pursued an alternative teaching license through the State of Colorado for high school mathematics. He taught full-time for one year prior to relocating to Oklahoma, where he is continuing teaching high school students.
